The Easter Journey 2026

The Easter Journey’s aim is for every child to hear about the life of Jesus and the events of Holy Week and Easter and to be encouraged to consider, question and explore the key questions: ‘Why was Jesus a Saviour?' and ‘Why did He die?’ The Easter Journey is aimed at children in Year 5 of primary school.

During the Easter Journey the children will have an opportunity to hear about the teachings and miracles of Jesus and the events that happened in Holy Week, starting with Palm Sunday. They will explore the key events of Easter week. Each child will be given a notebook and will be encouraged to reflect on what they hear by considering some questions with the help of the church volunteers. They will also plant a seed and have refreshments. The notebook can be taken home to help them remember what they have seen, heard and learnt.

As the session draws to an end the children gather together for a conclusion and an opportunity to give feedback and ask questions.

The whole "Journey" takes approximately 1 hour 30 minutes.

This year we are offering both an in-person event hosted by a local church and a Virtual Easter Journey which can be undertaken in the classroom. Whichever one you choose to do, booking is essential, so please click on one of the buttons below. There is a limited number of in-person sessions so they are offered on a 'first come, first served' basis, just select your preferred location, date and time from the calendar. There is a limit of one class of around 30 children per session. There are six churches hosting The Easter Journey in Knebworth and Stevenage.

Week One: 2nd - 6th March

If you select the Virtual Easter Journey, a resources pack will be delivered during the week commencing the 2nd March, and the links to the videos will be sent out that same week.
