The Easter Journey 2026
For Year 5
The Easter Journey’s aim is for every child to hear about the life of Jesus and the events of Holy Week and Easter and to be encouraged to consider, question and explore the key questions: ‘Why was Jesus a Saviour?' and ‘Why did He die?’ The Easter Journey is aimed at children in Year 5 of primary school.
During the Easter Journey the children will have an opportunity to hear about the teachings and miracles of Jesus and the events that happened in Holy Week, starting with Palm Sunday. They will explore the key events of Easter week. Each child will be given a notebook and will be encouraged to reflect on what they hear by considering some questions with the help of the church volunteers. They will also plant a seed and have refreshments. The notebook can be taken home to help them remember what they have seen, heard and learnt.
As the session draws to an end the children gather together for a conclusion and an opportunity to give feedback and ask questions.
The whole "Journey" takes approximately 1 hour 30 minutes.
If you have selected the Virtual Easter Journey, a resources pack will be delivered during the week commencing the 2nd March, and the links to the videos will be sent out that same week.

Identity and belonging: Exploring how key events from Christian history are celebrated today; Was Jesus the Messiah?

Lynne has been involved with Bridge Builders for a number of years. She joined the team two years ago to take charge of The Christmas and Easter Journeys. Before this Lynne was a Trustee and volunteer at The Christmas Journey. Many of you may also know here with her other 'hat' working at St Peter's Church. She is a cheerful and positive member of the team and we particularly appreciate her Anzac biscuits!
